1896

Bemidji became a town

1897

The first public school opened

1898

The first hospital opened, named St. Anthony's, but was generally known as the "Lumberjack Hospital." This was located on the corner of 3th St. and Minnesota Ave. One year later, they opened a bigger and better hospital, which is now the Baker Park apartments.

1903

Lumber mill on south shore of lake Bemidji opens

Chief Bemidji dies on April 20 at the age of 85

1905

Bemidji became a chartered city

1908

Original Bemidji High School was built

1910

Security State Bank was founded and chartered

1911

Homer C Baer joined the bank and became president shortly after

1919

Bemidji State Normal School was founded (Now BSU)

Bemidji State University logo.
1921

Bemidji State Normal School changed its name to Bemidji State Teacher's College.

After fire in 1919, BHS on 15th and Beltrami was built.

Memorial Hall at Bemidji State University.
1922

St. Anthony's closed. North Central Lutheran Hospital Association bought the hospital and operated it until 1975. At this time it was replaced by the Bemidji Community Hospital.

1935

The bank burned in a major fire that consumed nine other businesses

1936

Bank was rebuilt on 4th and Beltrami

Security State Bank on 4th and Beltrami, in 1936.
1937

Paul and Babe statues were built.

1946

Homer "Bill" Baer joined the bank

1957

Bemidji State Teacher's College changed its name to Bemidji State College

1959

Homer "Bill" Baer became president of the bank

1967

John W. Baer joined the bank

1975
The Bemidji State University arch in front of Deputy Hall.

Bemidji State College changed its name to Bemidji State University.

Security Bank USA drive in, at 104 Fourth Street, Bemidji.

Security State Drive-up facility opens at 104 Fourth Street

1979

The new Bemidji Community Hospital was built on Anne Street NW, where Sanford Hospital currently resides.

1981

The Bemidji Community Hospital became known as North Country Regional Hospital.

1982

Bemidji Middle School built

Mall facility opened at 1313 Paul Bunyan Drive NW

1993

Tiffany Baer joined the bank

1994

Purchased land for a future facility at 1025 Paul Bunyan Drive NW

1995

1st Annual Security State Bank Lumberjack Scramble

1996

May 28 ground breaking for new bank

1997

Opened doors of the new bank at 1025 Paul Bunyan Drive NW

1999

Changed name to Security BankUSA

2000

New high school built

New Bemidji High School.
2001

Ryan Baer joined the bank

2006

Local Curling team wins bronze medal @ 2006 Winter Olympics

Local Bemidji curling team.
2007

Main bank expansion

2010

North Country Regional Hospital was bought by Sanford, and is now known as Sanford Medical Center.

100th Anniversary of Security BankUSA

2013

Security InsuranceUSA, formally Insurance Services North was introduced
